Finding Your Style, Part 4: Evolve Your Style

This is the last part of my four part guide to find your very own style. We have already discussed how to re-organize your closet, what basics you need and how to be inspired. If you haven't read the previous parts, I would recommend them since they are a necessity for this part. In this part I will help you taking the very last step to your own style! Click read more to read and see.

So, you now have find all the inspiration you need, your closet is ready for a new start and you have the basics ready. Now it's time to take the last step, and this step will probably last forever. We need to evolve our style right now. In the previous article you have found out about your inspirations and you now want to decide which things you are going to purchase. What would be your statement piece? A bow, a leather jacket, boyfriend jeans? It doesn't matter, as long as it fits your style!

Don't be scared for change
If you want your style to develop, you must not be scared to change. As you are growing up, getting older, your interests change, trends change, you as a person change, so also your style might change. This is not a bad thing. Use it to get the items you really like and feel comfortable wearing. You might want to wear a cropped top when you are 18, but at the age of 25 you might consider it inappropriate (just as an example, it might not be the case for you).

Keep being inspired
To maintain your style, you want to make sure the inspiration gets flowing in. Whenever you are in a big city, open up your eyes and see what other people are wearing. It's not much work at all but it might inspire you, or you might see something totally fitting to your style!

Get Creative
It's definitely not a bad thing for your style to purchase a simple photo book and transform it into your style book. Whenever you see something which inspires you, in a magazine, on the internet or wherever you find your inspiration: paste it in there! You can also make your own looks or mood boards for specific seasons. It will be a lot of fun and when you analyze it you maybe see what's next on your to-buy list!

It's okay to be different
It's what makes you unique. It's what differs you from the others and what makes you you. You will feel the best in your own style. Why would you act like you are someone else than you? Just a remembrance: people who are famous for their styles, are mostly never wearing mainstream clothes. Of course you don't have to be much different from the others if you don't want to. You can also just discover your own statement piece. Maybe you like to wear hats? Maybe you are a real skater girl and you want to wear sneakers all the time? It's totally okay!

Personal story
To be honest, I've been through all of this before. When I look back at my outfit photos of a year ago I already see a difference. I like what I'm wearing right now, but maybe in two years I don't anymore. This means my style changes a lot. But I've always liked a pair of skinny jeans with a nice blouse/top/shirt on top. It's perfect for the lazy days, and yeah? It feels great sometimes! And sometimes I like to dress up, but there are also some days that I'm not putting on any make up or anything at all. I just try to stay true to myself and that's what makes me happy :D

I really hope this helped! If you want to read the other parts just click on the links below. You can also let me know in the comments if this helped you or if you have been through a similar journey! Or maybe you like more of such series on my blog?
